What a start to 2015

The 2015 season started a bit later then usual on the Sunshine Tour this year with the first event in mid February for a 5 week stint which ended with the Investec Cup.

  • I began my 2015 season at the Dimension Data Pro-am played at the magnificent Fancourt Golf Estate in George!! Three good round spoiled by a really bad one derailed my chances of winning!! I eventually finished in a tie for 16th!
  • The second event was the Joburg Open played at one of the great golf clubs in South Africa, Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. Four solid rounds troubled by a cold putter meant I eventually finished in a tie for 18th, my best result at the Joburg Open to date!!
  • Next the tour travelled down to the Eastern Cape for the Africa Open played at East Londen Golf Club! Although I’ve had success at this tournament my form was not good that week and a bad weekend didn’t help my cause. I stumbled to 71st postion….
  • For the 4th week on the bounce the tour traveled back to my home town of Pretoria for the Tshwane Open played at the Pretoria Country Club. I have always felt comfortable playing this event having played the two courses this event has been played on numerous times in the past!! With three sub 70 rounds for the week with the best round on Sunday, a 66 I was pleased to finish in a tie for 6th.
  • Having played pretty solid the last 10 months and making a lot of cuts meant that I entered the Chase to the Investec Cup in 4th on the points race with a good chance of winning it all! After two rounds at the Millvale Private Retreat I was just outside the top 10 going into the weekend and the final two rounds at the Lost City Golf Course at Sun City! I needed two low rounds to have a chance at the Chase to Investec Cup titel and my dream came true with a 68 and 66 over the last two rounds to get into a playoff with Jaco Van Zyl. After 3 playoff holes and a 15foot putt I was the Investec Cup and the Chase to the Investec Cup Champion!! What a last few months it has been!!

My end to 2014

Since the last time I posted something a lot has happened on the golf course for me!!

imagesFirstly we start with the Lion of Africa Cape Town Open!! After 5 long years I recorded my 2nd victory on the Sunshine  Tour! It was a great experience to finally get the win I wanted so badly and to be able to do it in a playoff was more gratifying after losing in a playoff earlier in the year!! Being able to win with my dad in the crowd was a very special moment as well!!

Secondly thanks to winning the Cape Town Open I got an invitation to play in the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City!! This is like playing in a major for any South African Golfer and a dream of mine since I was a youngster watching in the crowds of the same tournament!

After that finish to the year I ended up at number 16 on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit by surpassing the million rand mark for the first time in my career!!

Thirdly just a week ago I managed to gain an Asian Tour card for 2015 at the Asian Tour Qualifying School in Thailand!!

After the last 2 months I really look forward to 2015 in a big way!! Scheduling of tournaments will be a big task but definitely a problem  any professional golfer does not mind!! I will update my schedule accordingly!!

Have a great 2015 and Great Golfing!!!
